Carlos Bunga (born Oporto, Portugal, 1976) and Jason Martin (born Jersey, 1970) are artists of different origins and training, but with something in common: the use of monochrome in their paintings. Carlos Bunga works with modest materials such as cardboard and wood, shunning the grandiloquence of traditional materials, while Martin’s work is characterized by explorations of the limits of painting, with works that have a large element of the sculptural and in which the artist revels in paint, applying it with brushes that he makes himself and creating hypnotic waves of great sensuality. These artists show two new ways to explore the classic artistic medium of painting.
