Manolo Valdés (born Valencia, Spain, 1942) was one of the first artists to enter the Hortensia Herrero collection; she has been collecting his work for more than twenty-five years. The first piece was acquired in 1998; the most recent was produced specially for the Hortensia Herrero Art Centre in the very year of its opening, 2023. Over this period, we can see the artist’s development from his collages and hessian pieces to his most recent works made with coloured glass. In all of them we find the interesting dialogue that Valdés has always engaged in with art history, which has made him the most internationally renowned contemporary Valencian artist.
